Avoiding SPAM

Our online digital marketing services help to develop and support your digital marketing strategy, keeping your company profile up to date, in an efficient way.

e-Newsletters

A branded e-newsletter sent to your customer data base is a cost effective way of keeping in touch with customers on a regular basis. Our branded e-newsletter service includes:

• Designing an e-newsletter template for your business
• Writing all the text
• Providing and editing the images
• Circulating it to your customer's email addresses

E-newsletter content is entirely up to our customers, but we would recommend the following items are regularly included:

• Special offers
• New product or service information
• Company information such as new starters
• Brief application stories

Digital online marketing has never been simpler. Simply tell us what you want to say and we do all the rest!

Regular contact with customers helps to inform them of products and services that may be of interest to them. It also gives them a feel for how you operate as a company and provides openings for one to one contact. It is an environmentally friendly method of communication and a cheap alternative to fliers, mini brochures and leaflets.

The statistics we provide

Each month, after circulation, we provide our e-newsletter customers with the following data.

1. Unique opens
2. Click throughs
3. Bounces or failed emails
4. Unsubscribes
5. Unopens

This additional information can be used to make your digital direct marketing as effective as possible.

Circulation costs
To circulate e-newsletters we charge £20 set-up and 3p per email.

Example - To send the e-newsletter out to 673 emails would cost £20 + (673 x 0.03p) = £40.19.

Digital data and information sheets

Digital data and information sheets are cost effective digital marketing solutions that offer an alternative to direct mail campaigns. They are cheap to use and measurable. We offer the following information sheet and digital data sheet service:

• Write and design digital sheet
• Agree and procure the desired data base to which it is to be sent. This could be a client’s customer list.
• Send the digital sheet as often as agreed
• Provide statistical feedback for future campaigns.

The content of the data/information sheet is entirely up to our customers, however, we would advise sending a mailing of substance, not just an adapted advertisement.

Data base procurement

e-Newsletters can be sent to target, prospective customer databases. Optimum-PDM can buy such databases on your behalf at a discounted rate.

A guide to assessing your database.
Is it SPAM?

When we send an e-newsletter out for a client, we have to comply with a specific set of data base criteria, to ensure our digital marketing solution is perceived correctly. If our customer’s database does not comply, any e-newsletters or digital data sheets would be categorised as SPAM. Sending a SPAM email can result in your website address (URL) being blacklisted. We can still send e-newsletters out for our clients to bought-in or third party databases, but have to quote separately for this "managed" service.

The following email addresses are fine to use.

1. An individual who has filled in the subscriber section of your web site. A website visitor who has completed the “Subscribe me” section on your own web site can be added to your data base. You will have explained when and why you would be contacting them about.

2. An existing customer. A person who has purchased from you within the last 2 years.

3. Someone who handed you their business card at a trade show or other event, knowing you may contact them.
If you told the card owner you would be in contact, you have permission to add them to your data base. If you did not suggest that you would be contacting them either by a written notice or verbally, you do not have permission to use their data.

4. An individual who completed an off-line form, indicating they were willing to be emailed. If someone completes an off-line form like a survey or competition, you may only contact them if it was explained to them that they would be contacted by email AND they ticked a box indicating they were willing to be contacted.

The following email addresses should NOT be used and would be regarded as SPAM

1. An email address that you have not used for more than 2 years. Permission cannot be assumed over time. Even if you have had an individual’s permission legitimately in the past, they won't remember giving it to you. If you haven't sent something to an address in the last 2 years, you need to ask for permission again before doing so.

2. An email addresses obtained from a third party. You cannot send to a list you purchased, were given one by a business partner or bought a bankrupt competitor's customer list. You would be sending an email to people who have never given YOU permission to do so and consequently they will regard your email as spam. Irrespective of the claims made by the source of the list, you cannot email them with our software.

3. An address "copy and pasted" from the Internet. Finding an email address on the internet does not give you permission to send information to it. Just because people publish their email address doesn't mean they want to hear from you! An email of this type will be marked as Spam.
